Statistical analysis for Microsoft Access data

The Most Powerful Data Analysis Program for Access Just Got Better!

In April 2004, we released Total Access Statistics for Access 2003 (version 11) with many new features. We also added these enhancements to Total Access Statistics versions for Access 2002, 2000, and 97 (versions 10.5, 9.5, and 8.5 respectively). Existing customers of version 10.0, 9.0, and 8.0 can upgrade for a nominal fee.

General Enhancements

  • Support for multi-selection of fields during field assignments.
  • Code Generator that automatically creates code for running a scenario.
  • Deletion of Total Access Statistics temporary tables when exiting, if the current database doesn't contain saved scenarios.
  • New user manual and online help file.
  • Option to use Crosstab queries as data sources (previously only supported Select queries).

Data Analysis Enhancements

New Record Analysis Category

Three new analysis types are available:

Random
When analyzing data, you may need to create a subset of records for further analysis or testing. The Random feature generates or flags a subset of your records based on the options you select such as every nth record, a specific number of records, a % of records, or a random % of records across your entire table or for each group.

Ranking
The Ranking feature assigns a numeric rank to each record while handling for ties with options for how numbers after ties should be calculated (cumulative or consecutive).

Normalize
Having normalized data is a fundamental part of relational databases. The Normalize feature allows you to quickly convert non-normalized data into a new table with data in multiple fields normalized into one label field and one data field.

Enhanced Describe Analysis

New percentile options calculates Quintiles, Octiles, and every 5th percentile in addition to the original median, quartile, decile, and percentile values.

Enhanced Percentile Analysis

New options for calculating Quintiles, Octiles, every 5th percentile, every X.5 percentile, plus an option to update each record in your data source with its percentile value.

Enhanced Crosstab Analysis

A new option to show percentage results in fields rather than rows.

Programmatic Interface Enhancements

  • A new code generator creates the code you need to add statistical analysis and probability calculations directly into your applications.

  • New optional parameters allow you to override the scenario's data source and output table names when running scenarios programmatically.

  • New optional parameter allows you to specify the text or use the scenario description in the title bar of the progress form as scenarios are run.
