Pre-Sale Questions

Total Access Speller is a Microsoft Access add-in. Because of the property and design differences between Microsoft Access versions, Total Access Speller is Access version specific. It is designed to support all Access database formats supported by its Access version.

For example, Total Access Speller 2010 only runs in Microsoft Access 2010 and works with MDB databases that are in Access 2000-2010 formats, Access Data Projects (ADPs), and the Access 2007/2010 ACCDB format. Note that Access ceased support for ADPs after Access 2013.

The following versions of Total Access Speller are available:

This occurs if Total Access Speller is not properly installed and/or the registry setting for Microsoft Access add-ins was modified. Possible causes for this are:

  • The installed version of Total Access Speller doesn't match your version of Access. Total Access Speller is Access version specific and only appears as an add-in for its version. Contact FMS for an upgrade to the correct version.
  • The setup program for Total Access Speller was not run, or the Access Add-in Manager was invoked to install it. Don't do that! If you try this, an error message referring to a missing UsysRegInfo table may appear.

Total Access Speller is installed by using its setup EXE file:

  1. Run the setup EXE file.
  2. Follow the prompts of the setup routine and enter your serial number when prompted.
  3. After clicking finish to terminate the setup process, open your copy of Microsoft Access.
  4. Open the database you want to document.
  5. Select Total Access Speller from the add-ins menu. Total Access Speller launches itself and displays its main screen.

This error occurs when you attempt to run the Update Wizard by double clicking the "Update.exe" directly instead of running it from the Windows Start menu.

This is because the update.exe file requires parameters to run and return the correct information. In order to determine if there is an update available for this product, please run the update wizard program from the Windows Programs menu under All Programs, FMS, Total Access Speller, Update Wizard.

Total Access Speller for the Microsoft Access versions that support ADP files also spell check ADP files. ADPs are not supported by Access 2013 or later.

If you have an older version, you can upgrade to versions X.5 for a nominal fee. Customers on a support contract receive updates within the version automatically.

Version X.5 offers ADP support plus many new features.
