TOTAL ACCESS COMPONENTS 8.0 BEGINS SHIPPING

First Custom Controls Designed for Microsoft Access 95 & 97

VIENNA, VA – May 19, 1997- FMS, Inc. is pleased to announce Total Access Components 8.0 is now shipping. Total Access Components is a collection of twenty-seven 32-bit custom controls. It is the only collection of ActiveX/OCX controls designed and guaranteed to work with Access forms and reports.

Version 8.0 is an upgrade from version 2.0 for Access 2.0 with many enhancements:

• 32-bit version with supports for Access 95 and Access 97, on Windows 95/NT
• Seven new custom controls
• Controls support data binding

The seven new controls include:

• Form Resizer: resizes all the controls on a form when the form is resized by the user*
• Icon Menu: displays icons in a vertical menu similar to Microsoft Outlook 97
• Marquee: shows scrolling text
• Notes: adds pop-up "sticky" notes that can be bound to a field
• Splitter Bar: resizes controls on a form when a horizontal or vertical splitter bar is added*
• Video (AVI): plays, pauses, stops, rewinds, and navigates Windows digitized video *.AVI files*
• Timer: adds multiple timers to form*
  * Only supported by Access 97 not Access 95.

Many controls significantly enhance forms and reports:

• Rotated text and text with special effects (shadow, sunken, raised)
• Bitmap animation effects with fade in/out, stripes, and other transitions
• Tab controls across the top, left, right, or bottom
• Gauges and progress meters
• Slider bars and spin buttons
• Pop-up menus
• Enhanced buttons with graphics, 3D font styles, and multi-state toggles
• Fancy borders with beveling, rounded borders, and 3-D effects
• Digital and analog clocks

Other controls simplify programming common tasks for Access developers:

• Windows clipboard operations (cut, copy, and paste)
• Windows common dialogs (select files, directories, colors, fonts, printer, printer setup, etc.)
• Multimedia control to manage and play CDs, WAV files, and MIDI files
• Reading and writing to Windows INI and registry files
• System information (memory usage, CPU type, Windows directories, etc.)

It is available in two versions: a single developer version for $149 and a 5 developer pack for $449. Owners of version 2.0 can upgrade for $69. Both 2.0 and 8.0 versions can be purchased for $199.
