Update History

These features were added in version 9.62.0001:

New Feature: Option to Set International Encoding

International encoding of emails is a new feature in version 9.6. It supports extended characters of non-Roman/ASCII characters (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Russian, etc.). It encodes the emails to support these double byte characters. If you do want to use plain ASCII text, you can turn off international encoding. Simply set the International Encoding option from the Options from on the SMTP Settings tab.

This impacts the usysTEmailerOptions table and requires updating it to store this field. This could have a compatibility problem with older versions of Total Access Emailer. If you uncheck this option on a database that has an existing table, you are prompted to update the table. This isn't an issue when Total Access Emailer is run on a database for the first time.

Enhanced Email ActiveX Controls

We've updated the controls used by Total Access Emailer to support attached file names with non-ASCII characters, long subject lines that included extra spaces, and other SMTP protocol adjustments.

Setup Program Supports Machine or User Installations

The Setup program now lets you install Total Access Emailer for the machine or user to address situations where an administrator installs the program for a user without admin rights. With machine installation, anyone who can log into the machine with rights to the installation folder can run Total Access Emailer from the add-in menu.

Other Enhancements

  • Support for MDB files linked to the Total Access Emailer usys system tables stored on SQL Server databases
  • User interface enhanced to use larger fonts where appropriate
  • A warning before sending an email blast without a subject
  • Support lists of emails separated by commas, semicolons, or a combination of both
  • Support lists of files separated by commas, semicolons, or a combination of both
  • Select many more files at once as attachments
  • Zip file name and password added to the email blast specification report
  • Better trapping of problems with unavailable tables in linked sources including ADP files without an active connection

This release includes these new features:

  • For embedded reports without a NoData event, a warning only appears if a filter is applied and it has an option to Never Show it again.
  • When closing the add-in, if no email blasts were created for the database, a prompt now appears so you can save the files if you updated the options. Previously, the temporary tables would be deleted.
  • When a message is sent with both text and HTML portions, the text portion is preserved. Previously, it was being set to the text equivalent of the HTML section.
  • The help file was updated with more accurate context-sensitive jumps from sections of the program

Version 9.60.0007 included the following enhancement:

  • Email blasts with HTML messages based on an HTML file are now working. Previously, there were cases where the HTML message was duplicated.
